I work at the local district office.

저는 구청에서 근무하고 있습니다.

My job is to support civil servants who are visually impaired.

시각 장애가 있는 공무원의 업무를 지원해 주는 일을 하고 있습니다.

Some people are under the notion that visually impaired individuals can only read using Braille.

시각 장애인은 점자로만 글을 읽을 수 있다고 알고 있는 분들도 있습니다.

* be visually impaired : 시각 장애가 있다

* read using Braille : 점자로 읽다

But nowadays, most of them use computers and mobile devices.

그런데 요즘은 이분들 중 대부분은 컴퓨터와 모바일 기기를 이용합니다.

They use screen reader programs to browse the web, use messenger apps, and work on documents.

화면 해설 프로그램을 통해 인터넷 서핑을 하고, 메신저 앱을 이용하고, 문서 작업을 합니다.

* work on a document : 문서 작업을 하다

Since screen reader functions haven’t been perfected yet, my role is necessary for some tasks such as paperwork.

아직은 화면 해설 기능이 완벽하지 않기 때문에, 일부 문서 작업 같은 업무를 할 때 저의 역할이 필요합니다.

One of my duties is to edit documents to fit the required format.

작성된 문서를 서식에 맞추어 편집하는 것도 제가 할 일이죠.

I find it rewarding to see visually impaired public officials overcoming the challenges of blindness and adapting to society to lead fulfilling lives.

시간 장애인 공무원들이 실명의 어려움을 딛고 사회에 잘 적응하여 보람찬 삶을 사는 모습에 저도 보람을 느낍니다.
