24.10.21 Broken Ankle

In early November, I took a fall while indoor climbing and broke my ankle.

11월 초, 저는 실내 클라이밍을 하다가 낙상 사고로 발목이 부러졌습니다.

I twisted my right ankle as I fell, and I heard a “snap” from that side.

오른쪽 발목이 뒤틀린 상태에서 떨어졌는데, 오른쪽 발목에서 ‘빠각’하는 소리가 났습니다.

I went to a nearby orthopedic clinic and took an X-ray, which revealed that I had fractures in three places on my ankle.

근처 정형외과로 가서 엑스레이를 찍었는데, 발목 세 군데가 골절된 것으로 나왔습니다.

I was taken aback when I was told I needed surgery.

수술을 해야 한다고 해서 저는 너무 놀랐습니다.

I was transferred to a hospital where the surgery could be performed, and I had the operation a few days later.

수술이 가능한 병원으로 이동하여 며칠 수 수술을 받았습니다.

I felt deeply grateful for my family’s help.

가족들의 도움이 너무나 감사하게 느껴졌습니다.

While I was in the hospital, my mother-in-law came to take care of my child.

병원에 입원해 있을 때는 시어머니께서 오셔서 아이를 돌봐 주셨습니다.

My parents took over preparing meals and cleaning while I recovered.

친정 부모님은 저의 회복 기간 동안, 식사 준비와 청소를 책임져 주셨습니다.

My husband and daughter became my legs, bringing me everything I needed.

남편과 딸은 제 발이 되어 제가 필요한 것을 전부 갖다 주었습니다.

Being in pain made me realize the preciousness of everyday life.

이렇게 아파 보니 일상의 소중함을 깨닫게 되었고,

And above all, it made me appreciate my family even more.
